So, stick with me on this. Mood boards. Music. Two great things. And two things I’m going to post about monthly. Music sets the mood of the month for me, and it always helps me to have a focus when making my playlists. I also love mood boards, so I’m going to try my hand at making them.
Please forgive me if every month features disco balls; that’s just what my soul looks like.
The mood for this month? Staying cozy, making my own clothes (thanks to Seamwork patterns, more about them on Thursday) and deep colors. I love winter because it means I can wear sweaters, thick, wooly sweaters (I’m literally wearing the pink one pictured right now… whoops). With leggings and big wooly socks.
And that’s… the only good thing about winter.
So to cheer myself up I included some fun dance songs on my playlist, added my dream disco ball collection and some beautifully colored fabric swatches to inspire my sewing. Obligatory working out #shoefie from a few years ago because I’m almost to that level of dedication again. Also, anemone flowers… just.. love them. So much. 💖
If you’ve known me for awhile you probably know I love music of all kinds and am always looking out for new stuff. For the past four (!!!) years I’ve been making monthly playlists that help me keep track of the year as it passes. If I hear a song from my 2014 playlist I can still tell you the month I added it and a memory tied to listening to it. I believe music is extremely nostalgic, and I know I’m not the only one. Because of this I love sharing my monthly playlists, so that’s something I’m going to do here!
Who else has been loving Niall Horan‘s album, Flicker? “On The Loose” feels like it was written about me (can #confirm I’m the Chelsea from On My Own) and I was waiting for a good month to add it to. The first month of the new year felt appropriate for my favorite song off his album. Also, you can thank my sister-in-law for getting me into the song “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons over Thanksgiving week, because now I love it a little too much… WHOOPS.
Sorry not sorry about the change of pace brought by Paranoia by Katie von Schleicher; I’m obsessed with her voice and will make no apologies for that fact. She also featured at the veeeeerrrry end of my 2017 playlist, if anyone is interested in listening to what the soundtrack to my life last year was.
Finally “Finesse” by Bruno Mars featuring Cardi B??? Who else swooned when this came out? If you haven’t seen the music video yet what are you even doing? Only complaint: IT NEEDS MORE CARDI B.
